Organizational Planning & Sustainability

Planning

Detail from a strategic planning session.

Detail from a strategic planning session.

Powerful strategic action, or scenario planning should actively call forth a wide variety of voices, represent a true consensus, and be achievable. We always start at the beginning, seeking to clarify the need for a new plan, the desired outcomes, and the assumptions that all parties bring to the process. Then, working with your team, we design a process that’s a custom fit.

Youth Catalytics helped us clarify our aspirations for the organization and articulate our vision. Not only did we emerge from the strategic planning process reinvigorated; our vision now guides our organizational planning.

Leadership Development

Leaders are developed, not born, and exist at all levels in every organization. We help emerging and seasoned leaders, and leadership teams excel by building on their strengths, identifying vulnerabilities, and providing targeted support around their unique needs. Supporting leaders through transitions, be it a career change or retirement is essential for organizational health. Thresholds leadership classes guide non-profit leaders through the best practices for making career transitions. Learn more about our partners and Thresholds here.

Partnership & Coalition Development

Partnerships and coalitions, always important but critical in times of great social and economic stress, bring together diverse organizations around a common goal, amplifying impact while cutting costs. We support this work by compiling relevant data across organizations, facilitating collaborative planning processes, and producing tools that enable shared communication and ways to track overall progress.

Not sure how they do it, but the team got our diverse group wrangled and on the same page after multiple agency leadership changes and a pandemic. We all walked out of the room re-energized and ready to work.

Fund Development & Sustainability

We understand that organizations that provide exemplary services to young people don’t always have the internal capacity to produce a winnable grant proposal. So that’s where we come in. By writing competitive government and private foundation grants, we help organizations succeed in the high-stakes endeavor of raising funds. We specialize in planning, writing, and critiquing grants for child and youth-serving organizations of many kinds, but particularly specialize in homeless services proposals.

We have partnered with the experts at Youth Catalytics for several years and have received every federal grant we’ve applied for—totaling over $9.5 million in multi-year funding in 2022! On top of helping us win these grants, our team learned so much from the grant writing process itself. It’s been a total win-win: we received the funding and Youth Catalytics helped us develop our internal capacity.
