Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Prevention Publications.

Posted February 5, 2025, by Mindi Wisman

We’ve been producing our human trafficking and child exploitation prevention work with The National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments (NCSSLE) for over a year. Today we want to highlight our latest anti-human trafficking and exploitation publications—two tipsheets on human trafficking and child exploitation prevention strategies for educators. Human trafficking and child exploitation can happen anywhere, so schools can be invaluable places for students and staff to learn about trafficking and exploitation prevention and resources.

The first tipsheet is, How to Talk with Youth about Human Trafficking and Exploitation, a resource for K–12 educators that offers strategies they can use to talk with youth about human trafficking and exploitation prevention methods. It includes social media safety tips, practice examples, and multiple additional resources.

The second tipsheet is, How Schools Can Start a Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prevention Program. This resource highlights how K–12 educators can implement a human trafficking and exploitation prevention program and includes specific steps and strategies schools and districts can take, as well as key features of school safety protocols and related resources.

Both tip sheets complement the anti-trafficking and exploitation webinars we host alongside NCSSLE. Since 2020, the U.S. Department of Education has conducted a webinar series to address the growing response of America’s schools to child trafficking and exploitation. The series draws attention to the important efforts underway in our nation’s schools to address both sex and labor trafficking and exploitation.

We hope you find these resources useful and informative!
